Cardio but not lose muscle mass?

Hi guys, I'm trying to loose about 10 or 15 pounds of fat, but I don't want to loose my muscle because I heard that over doing cardio can burn muscle mass or something like that, I eat allot of protiens so when I do and just in case if I over do cardio I will regain what I had burned this is usually what I do eat lots of proteins like chicken, meat and I eat allot of cottage cheese for it's protien intake, but I was wondering if this is good to do for me not to loose muscle when I do my cardio
